The course introduces a new concept of orthodontic diagnosis, planning and treatment, breaking paradigms and allowing the orthodontist to understand how the skull grows and malocclusions develop; its morphological characteristics, its very close relationship with posture and the balance system, enabling the comprehensive treatment of our patients in borderline orthodontic cases (Cl II, Cl III, Cl I with severe crowding, MLD facial asymmetry, open bites), without orthognathic surgery or palatal disjunction), and also the redirection of growth in children.

Topic 1: What is biophysiological orthodontics

  • Bone biology, the secrets of passive self-ligating, MOPs, and more.
  • What is posterior discrepancy, and how to manage it.
  • Identification and management of occlusal planes (anterior & posterior)
  • Passive eruption vs. active eruption vs. extrusion.
  • Differences between the conventional system and the biophysiological
    system.
  • Can I get the same result with any prescription bracket?

Topic 2: My Mechanics

  • Arch development: when, why, and how to accomplish it.
  • Vertical dimension as the key to adequate correction of Class 2, Class 3, and MLD cases.
  • Shimbashi: individualized vertical dimension
  • Working wires, transition wires, and finishing wires.
  • GUMMETAL wires (GEAW, MEAW, MOAW, Mulligan’s Overlay Arch).
  • Conventional elastics vs. optimized elastics (how to use the adverse effect to our advantage)
  • Why Early Short Light Elastics
  • Control and management of occlusal planes

Topic 3 Spheres of Function – Curves of Compensation

  • Geometry of Occlusion – Prof. Slavicek
  • How the TMJ really works and why TMJ first, and then BPO
  • The importance of the vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO), the art of disarticulation, reasons for disarticulation
  • How to avoid joint compression (compression = condylar resorption
= dysfunction) How to close an open bite without generating joint compression Identify the difference between when it is a Full arch intrusion or an intrusion only for the anterior tooth Full arch intrusion, correction of gummy smiles – Storino Protocol

Topic 4: What do I need to change in my patient?

  • The true etiology of malocclusions
  • Correct diagnosis of malocclusions
  • The importance of functional occlusion
  • Where to look in the cephalometry
  • Bracket position – differential bonding?
  • M.A.D.S – Maxillary Arch Development System
  • Step-by-step treatment of low- and high-angle Class II
  • Step-by-step treatment of low- and high-angle Class III
  • Complex cases
  • Finishing our cases
  • Good occlusion function (sequential guide to canine- dominant disclusion – Prof. Slavicek)

16 CE credits provided To ensure an intimate and valuable experience, attendance
is limited.
